‘On Yer Bike’ Cycling Group!

Here at Liverpool Floating Support Service, we are members of the Merseytravel Employee network. This gives us access to free bus passes to discourage staff from using their car in favour of using the bus. In addition to this, we offer our service users free saveaway bus tickets to enable them to access employability opportunities and other meaningful events and activities. This has the added bonus of reducing carbon emissions within the city of Liverpool and makes our service greener!

Several of our service users have expressed an interest in cycling… so (thanks to Merseytravel) we now have several brand new bikes plus helmets and locks for our service users to use!

So why cycle? Whether it’s a day-to-day activity or an occasional adventure, is a great way to help keep people of all ages fit and healthy. There is strong evidence to suggest that the benefits of cycling outweigh any risks. Cycling is something that is really very simple—all that is needed is a roadworthy bike (which we will provide for you along with safety equipment), a knowledge of the Highway Code (which we will also provide you with) and then it just takes a little bit of practice.

Cycling can be slotted into everyday life, enabling people to benefit their health without having to set aside time for exercise. With a little confidence building, just a daily cycle to the shops or to visit a friend or family member can make a huge difference to your health and well-being. It can also make a difference to your pocket if you usually pay for a bus, a car, or a taxi.

If you fancy having a go, you can let your support worker know who will give you more information, or alternatively call us on 0151 260 9550, email us liverpool.north@creativesupport.org.uk or contact us via our contact form.

Liverpool Pride 2017!

That’s right… We are off to the Liverpool Pride celebrations on July 29th! Keep your eyes peeled for us marching along in the parade!

As part of our preparation we are holding pre-pride decorating and sewing sessions over at our Anfield hub.
